It’s getting warm outside again and that means more time spent outside and for most homeowners that means more time spent working on their yard and the exterior part of their house. Keeping up with maintenance across all aspects of your property is crucial for continued function and appearance across the board. Today, we wanted to go over a list of home maintenance tips that you can do this spring.
1. Check Out Your Roof:
Even if you haven’t noticed any leaks during the winter, take some time to walk around your house and check out your roof. Winters can be brutal on roofs and simply giving your roof a quick look over can help you notice any new damage or issues that need to be addressed. Keep an eye out for missing or damaged shingles, algae buildup, or new moss growth. If you notice that something is off, reach out to a professional for further advice.
2. Gutter Cleaning:
Cleaning gutters aren’t just for the fall season. Make sure going into the summer that your gutters are cleaned out!
3. Inspect Your Deck:
Give your deck a quick inspection and look for any water stains, discoloration, or warping. If you spent less time on your deck this winter, something certainly could have happened to it.
4. Run Outside Faucets:
It’s always good to test your outdoor faucets by running them for a little while. While the water is running, place your finger over the opening and if the water flow stops, you may have to call a professional to look at your pipes.
5. Inpsect Windows:
The spring is the perfect time to make sure your windows and doors don’t have any cracks or openings that have been created during the winter. It is also a great time to clean your windows so they are looking clear for the summer!
